An update from Oslo

Our flights have been cancelled. So we are still waiting to get ourselves in for the next available flights.

The Ny Alesund scientific work is over. I came back to the Norwegian mainland (Oslo) yesterday night. Hoping the international flight service will resume from Oslo Airport today. More later!

The last few days had been hectic. I completed all the necessary scientific tasks, filtered several 100 litres of water, managed to grow some bugs. Now we are winding up our activities and getting ready for our trip back to India. Officially the sun set today past midnite in Ny Alesund skyline. The weather is pleasant yet the fjord is frozen! I will upload some more photos of the frozen fjord at the end of today. Thank you all for visiting the blog.

After 40 hours of snow fall and blizzards its all calm here. Well yeah thats what you would be expect if you are nearer to the Arctic!

The temperature has dramatically shifted as a result of the blizzard, its -14C here. But there is absolute calmness outside. Another important fact now we have 20 hrs of sunlight..hoorayyyyyyyyy!!!!!

Not really..hehehe.. Time is 1:39 am and I am signing of now. But I am ending for the day with a picture I took an hour ago. Hope you all like it. Ciao!

We are getting ready to undertake sampling in the fjord this weekend. Should be interesting. I am supposed to filter about 100 litres of water! Well I have just added a movie file so as to share the snowfall in Ny Alesund we experienced two days back.
